This weeks LIVE Show we look for ways that Technology can help our Economic woes. It’s more of a Brainstorm session. Sometimes you need to just get a good idea that can fuel everyones passions.

While we didn’t come up with the next miracle item, we hopefully put an understanding into what can be done to help ourselves. Time to not rely on someone else and take control. Hopefully.

I didn’t get a good chance to spend time at Geek Kon this year due to the schedule. That’s why I put down thoughts rather than a review. What I did make of it was pretty good. Lots of die-hards attended and most in costume.

The event brings Sci-Fi enthusiasts, gaming pros and guild members together. There were many different events going on within the 2 buildings of the University. Discussions from local stars gone global – Luke Sienkowski (The Great Luke SKi), Matt Sloan and Aaron Yonda (Chad Vader) and a lot more. Read the rest of this entry »

A couple cool Disney facts this week. Disney World opens in Oct 1st, 1971 – Then in 1982, EPCOT Center was opened.

Lots of cool history. Microsoft, IBM, Apple and the creations of NASA and the FCC. Apologies for I might have acted drowsey due to the fact I took a Benedryl earlier and faught falling asleep during the show

It’s been a long day and a long week. It’s not over. I have a small window, so I’m posting this quick.

Let’s start on Monday. We had a great LIVE Show discussion on Heroes and Android. Thanks to all that participated. Next week we’ll be doing another live show. Call in questions now 608-205-4378

The Podcast went well this week. All quickcasts went great as well. On Friday I had some free time so I asked if anyone wanted to do an interview. Walt Ribeiro (Daily Music Lesson with Walt) responded. An hour later we were up on Skype talking away. The interview is on Walt’s uStream and the audio podcast will be published next week.

Earlier today I participated in the TechPodcasts RoundTable. John Coonen on Joomla, Andy McCaskey on LifeCasting and Todd Cochrane on JungleDisk. Geekazine has also presented Sony ACID for Podcasting. We talked about what Podcast software is out there, a little bit about ACID and how to record, edit and save a file. The presentation happens at the 42 minute mark.

Lots of great stuff. Posting the uStream event now – Once the GoToMeeting version is posted, we will send off the link.

The Biosphere experiment happened between 1991 and 1993. 8 people entered Biosphere II in Arizona and lived there without outside interruption. We also learned about Ataris’ Dumping of tons of bad game cartridges. ET phoned Home.

There is a lot more on Part II of This Week in Tech History. Take a listen.

All this week we’ve been installing WiFi in an establishment. Sometimes it’s an easy task, other times it takes a little work to get things done. So in honor of all the work, this week’s strip is dedicated to this weeks job.

The Economy is in Danger. Banks and Institutions are in a financial pickle. With the fall of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac because of bad business decisions and a Blind eye to investors building more homes than Americans need, financial institutions could collapse upon themselves. To protect their money, they could make it harder for Businesses to get loans.

I downloaded the SDK (Software Development Kit) the other day to play with Android. Although it’s not an HTC G1, it will definitely give me an idea of what to expect. I am hoping it will go on an older phone. We’ll see.

For the last 6 months, Geekazine has been using OpenID to try and give people another way to comment on the articles. Ever since, there have been problems with this plugin. Error logs going off the chart in what I can only determine as bots using the interface.

We have tried to fix the problems and keep OpenID alive on Geekazine. Alas, the end result was it didn’t make sense to keep the ideal around right now. Therefore, until further notice, we have decided to cut ties with OpenID until a viable solution can be made.

Once the system is up and proven working properly, we will reimplement. Sorry for any inconvenience.
