We started an hour early to talk about Heroes before the season premier. We talked with JoelD, who was in England and cannot see the show. The discussion then swung to getting US TV in the UK and visa – versa.
Hour 2 we went right into the Android and what you can do with it. We talked about the Open Source license, the applications you can download for it and what devices you can install it on. Who will be the first to put Android on an iPhone?

Thursday, September 24th, 1998: Ebay became a publically traded company. Ebay put over nine million shares on NASDAQ. The Initial offering price was $18, but when the day was over, Ebay shares were at $47.375.
It’s not the only Ebay story in the History recordbook. September 22nd, 1999: Auctionwatch.com reported that the night before someone had posted an auction for “Hollands Best” Marijuana. The auction got up to $10 Million before Ebay officials took it down.
All this and a lot more in The Podcast.

I passed by the old Comp USA store in the area yesterday. It looked so lonely. The other shops in the mall were bustling – the Party City next door was getting ready for Halloween and the Target was doing it’s normal influx of customers.
It would have been nice to see Tiger Direct purchase this outlet, alas they didn’t and therefore there is a big “For Lease” sign on it. I am intrigued as to why the sign is still up. Maybe there is still a lease on the space from CompUSA? Maybe Tiger Direct is getting some free advertising off of this? After all, it does overlook a main traffic vein of the west side.
I started remembering the rise and fall of the store. I also remember what I was able to get here. I had a CompUSA Wireless B router at one time. I also got a great deal for me and my brother on a HP CDRW drive with free MP3 player. That was years ago and the CDRW pretty much has gone in the spares bin.
The fall was kina sad. I walked into the store to see areas blocked off by torn down shelving units. They tried to sell a 486 for $100. Not sure if they sold it to anyone…
So I snapped the picture, reminisced and moved on. I suppose it’s the way we live life – things come and go. Or as the great saying goes: Things change. People Change. Hairstyles Change. Interest rates fluxuate….
Today was suppose to be a relaxing day. I was going to catch up on work and get items ready for next week. I ran into an article on security which I decided to read.
In the article, they suggested to convert my tables from wp_ to something else. I thought that would be a pretty straightforward process. I backed up my MySQL database, then changed the SQL to the new prefix. I Imported those tables straight into the same database – basically it doubled the size of the table, but I had a safeguard to go back to.

We have commemorated “Talk like a Pirate Day” in my other circles for the last few years now. It’s cool to see and hear mainstream picking it up. Ye all need to talk like a pirate e’ry now and then.
When I woke up this morning, I said “Yar! I need to write a Shanty”. So I did. Since my main Guitar is in the shop, I picked up the practice guitar and strummed out the song. A quick recording and mixing and Voila! A new song is born.
Here are the Lyrics if you want to sing along.

Microsoft is making the shift from the Seinfeld – Gates ads to something a little different. Bottom line is Microsoft is creating an Ad campain to let people know that Vista is the way to go. But is it really – would you be better off with a Mac?
The “Real Life PC” will be part of the new ads. Microsoft will ad emails on the screen, including Bill Gates (which I already sent one off). The idea is to have the stellar ad that will change the masses ideals.
Does a computer ad sway you? Will the new Microsoft ads change your thinking? Of course we did a parody last week of the Seinfeld Ads. We poked fun at it.
Ads can change the way someone looks at a product. Unfortunately, most people see the ads and it actually sways their decision. Then again, they just get what is given to them when they buy the PC.
I haven’t seen the PC commercial but I did read the magazine ads. It will be interesting to see if this turns things around.

Although the voice is still not 100%, I can talk without pause to hack (at least most of the time). Therefore, we’re finishing up this week in Tech History. All the events of Sept 19th, 20th and 21.

It’s kinda cool to be able to play a game I can really get into. Since I don’t game that much I really need a lot to try something. For far this game is pretty cool – but don’t worry. I’ve only spent about 3 to 4 hours on the game.
This weeks Bitstrips gives me my wish: the ability to master the skills of the dark side. I thought about the Jedi, but they’re so sterile sometimes. I could master the art then get rid of the master. Then I would rule the world.
Ah heck. Who am I kidding. I would most likely be C3P0.

If you visit my site regularly, you may know that I’m not a gamer. I don’t pretend to be one and I don’t play one on TV. All the game consoles I ever bought ended up at my brothers’ house. The most I ever got into a system was my first NES simply because I was addicted to Tetris.
