Wow. What a great LIVE Show to end out the year. We had 2 great guests that are both in the Podcast range, therefore we talked a lot about Podcasting. Rob Greenlee is the Podcast Content Director at Zune, and Gary Leland runs the website PodcastPickle.com.

We talked a lot about Podcasting, how Zune is running podcasts, associations of Podcasts to iTunes, if MP3 players are stepping aside for Smartphones, if a Zune Phone will be out and a lot more. We also talked about Twitter, Microsoft Home Server, Vista, Quad-core Laptops and a lot more.

This week we had a lot of “Sold to this Date” stories on the 31st. Of course it makes sense – you have to show some justification or brag about how many Vic-20’s you sold to date. I know I would.

It doesn’t mean there is a lot of Good History here. Bill Gates Anniversary, Jobs and Wozniak form Apple, Coleco sells the Adam line. I could go on and on, but then you would have no reason to catch the Quickcast. Therefore, here is the audio of the show.

Well, I finally scraped up my quarters and nickels to get the plane ticket and Hotel reservations for VEGAS BABY!! This will be my first ever trip to Vegas. It’s a little nerve racking, but also extremely exciting.

I will be staying at the Monte Carlo. I am arriving at 11 AM PST on January 6th 2009. Will be there until 6:30 AM on January 12th. Hopefully there will be no snow in Vegas.

This will be an Awesome week with Todd Cochrane and Andy McCaskey. We will be running Back Channel, High def content and a lot more on the TechPodcasts Channel. In addition I will be pushing out photos and Blogs throughout the weekend.

In Part 1, we looked at last years predictions. The numbers weren’t too shabby. This year, we’ve expanded the list to anyone that wanted to contribute. And Contributions I did get. 250 of them.

I spent most of Friday night and subsequent morning filtering the list to a couple pages worth of information. We have CEO’s, CTO’s, Marketers, Podcasters and even a Psychic helping us with this years list.

Of course at the end of the list I will be adding my 2 cents worth for 2009 on Page 2.  So without any further ado, let’s get started.

Wow. It was about a year ago I asked for people to send in thoughts as to what to expect in 2008. I also made some Technology predictions. But the real question was – How far off was I?

This is actually part 1 of a 2-part story. This first part reviews the predictions I made last year and how far off I was. Part 2 will have this years predictions, including predictions from CEO’s CTO’s TechPodcasters and even a Psychic.

So without any further ado, let’s pick apart my idiocy from last year:

OLPC will have some growing pains. The first part of OLPC will be the easiest. Maintaining the machines will be the trick. Microsoft coming onboard will muddy the water, but they might be able to do things like offer a better support network to third world countries.

There have already been Apps refused on the Apple iPhone store simply because of questionable content. Last week, a new App – iBoob – was the latest application to get axed. The program was simple. Shake the iPhone and watch the chest shake.

While this app really is no different than watching an 80’s movie on Comedy Central, Apple has pretty much set the guidelines for their store that, if you don’t follow, you get booted. Then again, they pretty much said they will nix ANY application without explanation.

Nonetheless, these apps will still try to find their niche in the Store. They will get booted – which in turn – Apple will continue to get bad press. Then Android’s store will come along and although they have a kill switch too, they might just be a little more liberal with the applications they allow.

We all love getting the gifts. But when that one gift is just not what you wanted, you have to go to the store and get something to replace it. We all seem to want to go to the store the day after the holiday to do that.

The Day After Christmas

It’s a special episode of the Quickcast. Happy Holidays to all

It’s 8 am on Christmas Day. You wake up and anxiously await going downstairs to take in the spectacular view of the tree and all its gratuities. The kids are running around, the dog is at your feet. You just stand there with the first cup of coffee of the day wondering “Am I getting a tie or a sweater this year”.

But your family (and Santa) surprise you this year. They get you a 40″ flat screen TV and DVR. They get you an Apple iPhone. They get you a new laptop or desktop computer. It’s a Techmas for you and for your whole family.
