Thursday, September 24th, 1998: Ebay became a publically traded company. Ebay put over nine million shares on NASDAQ. The Initial offering price was $18, but when the day was over, Ebay shares were at $47.375.

It’s not the only Ebay story in the History recordbook. September 22nd, 1999: Auctionwatch.com reported that the night before someone had posted an auction for “Hollands Best” Marijuana. The auction got up to $10 Million before Ebay officials took it down.
