We got a good Double Whammy on the Week in Tech History. First of all, on October 20th 2004, Ubuntu is first released. Since then it’s gone through many revisions and has many different flavors, including Kubuntu, Xubuntu and Edubuntu.
It also marks the 8 year anniversary on Oct 23rd as the iPod v1 was first released. Of course since then the iPod has grown to many flavors in itself - the iPod touch and iPod nano. It is still one of the top MP3 players and one of the top ways to go deaf out there.
Check out the Quickcast for tons more like the first photocopier, Mac OS 9, Dell Poweredge AMD, EU and Microsoft and a lot more.

Remember Dana Carvey on Saturday Night Live in the 80’s? During the “Weekend Update” he dressed up to look like an old man and sit there telling the Kids: “Back in my day…” He would always end the line with being bloody and beat up and “WEEEE LOVED IT!”.
This week I was asked the question: Will the student now using a Mac be able to adapt to a PC environment in the workforce? I said Yes and went on with my college story: I used a MAC until 1995. After that, it was a PC until 2005 when I learned Mac environments for work. But even the Windows or Mac of 1998 is not the same of 2008. It really begs the question: What will the machines of 2018 look like?
