Ramblings - 5-10-08

Hey everyone. I had a long week, but it’s been fun. Lots of stuff happening, so here we go:

- On Monday we had another awesome Live show. We got about 11 people at one time participating which was great. Remember - Next Monday, 25 people in the show (video AND chat) and I’m giving away a gift certificate for $25.

- Tuesday was a great podcast. I had to do the show early because I had to be somewhere that afternoon. Still, I had a few talking away. Great stuff!

- I started redesigning the site. I found a template in which I will work off of. I have already moved around a ton of content and added the Geekazine flare. 37 pieces, right?

- The Podcast got a slight upgrade as I found a decent video camera to pick up the slack. Now with 1 video and 2 webcams, I can move around the picture which will help change up the same old angle. The Live show will see the angle shots while most other videos will be one angle unless called for something else.

- Added the Apple imac stuff to the podcast. If you go to apple.geekazine.com, you can actually get some great deals. Of course our other sponsor - GotoMeeting is a great addition to the podcasts, and we welcome them wholeheartedly.

- The Alexa ranking for Geekazine has risen from 1.7 Million to 1.3. This is awesome! Hopefully with the site redesign this will shoot up more. It’s only the 10th, but the site has hit 1/2 of what last months’ total number of visitors was. If that holds tight, then by June 1, the site views will been seen 150%. Even the Google Pagerank has jumped back to 4/10. Will be working to get that elusive 5. If you know of or see something I am doing wrong on the pages, let me know. I’ll fix it.

- Thanks a lot to Dustin of EpicOnline for being a big part of the ustream stuff. http://epiconlineblog.blogspot.com is his site. Also a shout to Brokenshovel and everyone else that joined and chatted. Wiredtechau also joined me on Saturday to talk tech. He lives in Brisbane, which meant he was up til about 4 AM.

- I did a couple guest spots on http://tctpodcasts.com while Norbert was bringing his computer back up. Had a lot of fun watching them. You can also see them and more on my Youtube Channel.

- Worked on some Videos for an outside contract. Really pushing that project because it can turn to be a cool thing.

- Sunday got to be a work horse, and because of it I couldn’t do the Vocalo segment. I really like my Vocalo stuff, but it’s getting a little more difficult to work in. I hope to juggle around a couple things and keep it going. However, it really is low on the priority list.

That’s pretty much it for this week. Let me know if you have any questions. geekazine (at) gmail.com or 608-205-4378.

CES - Day 1

Well, it’s day 1 and we have walked through half the Sands convention center with cameras in hand. Todd, Andy, Andy and myself took the morning to record the first half of the floor. We found some pretty interesting booths and did some great interviews. I am downloading some of the content as we speak.
