Ramblings - 5-24-08

First of all I would like to wish everyone in the States a Happy Memorial Day. It is a great weekend for me especially because it ushers in the idea that warm weather is here. I can attest to that today as I have my first full head burn - except for my eyes because I was wearing sunglasses.

I have spent most of my weekend already at Bratfest - an annual festival that serves up the Wisconsin laiden traditional sausage. As some of you know I am not only a musician, but also a part of the music community with my other website, WIBands. It needs a major facelift, but the focus for the last couple months was for geekazine.

Anyway, we also had a week here. Announced the winner of the iPod / Zune. We picked the winner on uStream - so check the archives for that video.

I had also started writing for GeekNewsCentral. Small bits of news for their blog section. It’s something I don’t do here, so I felt it a great oppertunity to help out with their site.

Job front is looking different - working with a client for a possible job. Still looking for something that will keep me going - can’t say much more than that right now. Of course, I will keep as much content coming into the site as possible.

Because of this new opportunity, I got a new laptop. It’s just a Lenovo R31e - 1.8gHz celleron but it’s better than the laptop I had and really didn’t have any problem with. The battery was dying and it did run slower for what I needed. The new laptop didn’t have a touchpad - just a “Thinkpoint”, which is a little rubber nub stuck between the keys.

I really don’t mind because I have used thinkpads in the past. It was just interesting to see one in this day and age without a touchpad. I am still using the laptop for a lot of stuff and it is better than the old 500 mHz Gateway.

Going to try and do the weekly 5min and vocalo segments tonight so I can just post tomorrow. Not sure if the plan is going to happen as my neighbors decided to throw a party. MMMMM. Party….

Haven’t been on uStream because my cameras are being used for another event. Will try to get it set back up for Sunday.
