600 tweets a second. That might just jump up a little in the next 18 hours as the Deccabillitweeter will be crowned.

What is a Deccabillitweeter? Well that is the person who will make the 10 Billionth Twitter. I know I will be trying for that. Therefore, you will see me tweet all day tomorrow.

1st tweet: Got out of bed. 2nd tweet: Jumped in shower 3rd tweet: showering. 4th Tweet: still showering…

I looked, but couldn’t find out who the 1 billionth tweet was. All I know is it happened around Nov. 10, 2008. The 5 Billionth Twitter was sent by Robin Slone with the post “Oh lord”. He hit enter before he could finish it with “…it’s hard to be humble, when you’re perfect in every way…”

So what do you give a Deccabillitweeter? Well if it’s anything like an anniversary, it’s tin/aluminum or Diamond. So would that make it a Diamond-Deccabillitweeter?

We have 18 hours to go, according to Gigatweet.  Yep, it’s a site dedicated to watching how much time we waste online. Bless their souls.

Today is a special day over at Geekazine: Today marks the 2nd anniversary of the website. While the Podcast has gone longer than the site itself, the first official post happened 2 years ago today.

A lot has changed since then. Over 1,000 posts, 111 Weekly Podcasts, 153 Quickcasts, many different videos and now 3 months of Day in Tech Hisotry. Add to that the Roundtables, Vocalo segments, TPN CES coverage and a lot more – you have about 250 hours of content on this site alone.

I would like to thank everyone that has helped out over the last couple years. I would like to thank all the sponsors that have also helped me achieve this milestone. If it wasn’t for the communities I belong to, Geekazine might have faded a while ago.

Looking toward the future – It’s tough to say what will happen. I can only promise that I am still on the same path as 2 years ago and hope to give you more content and improve my art.

Thanks again for visiting Geekazine, Dorkazine and TVazine. See you at the next post!

This week we had a lot of “Sold to this Date” stories on the 31st. Of course it makes sense – you have to show some justification or brag about how many Vic-20’s you sold to date. I know I would.

It doesn’t mean there is a lot of Good History here. Bill Gates Anniversary, Jobs and Wozniak form Apple, Coleco sells the Adam line. I could go on and on, but then you would have no reason to catch the Quickcast. Therefore, here is the audio of the show.

Well, it was 366 days ago that the first posts for Geekazine surfaced (Leap Year, ya know). It’s been a little longer for the podcasts. Nonetheless, this site went live on November 7th 2007.

Since then we’ve had over 175 podcasts and video casts, over 400 posts, a few posts and some people got some great swag. We’ve talked with some great names in the last year – from Bryce Whittey from Technibble, Josh Chandler, to Jeri Ellsworth.

I would first like to thank everyone for a great first year. I would like to thank the sponsors: Gotomeeting.com, Careersaver.com are the two main ones. I would also like to thank all who have sent donations to the site.

Thanks to Norbert Davis from TCTPodcast.com for all the Cool Tech Corner episodes. Thanks to the cast at Techpodcasts, Blubrry and Raw Voice for making a great community. Thank you to uStream for giving me a facet to do the LIVE Show every Monday. Thanks to Vocalo – I haven’t made an episode there in a while simply because I just run out of time, but I am still appreciative for all they did.

I am going to make the next year even better. We have a good stream of people going to Geekazine and to the sister site: Dorkazine. I have some great news. I have signed up some more web sites and we are going to incorporate them into the family. More in future ramblings.

We survived the election. We survived the MicroYugo. We survived Steve Jobs health. We are Survivors – The Eye of the Tiger.

Once again, feel free to email me @ geekazine@gmail.com or call me at 608-205-4378 and say hi. Give me some ideas. Submit an article for use on the site. Let’s make next year better than ever!!

We got a good Double Whammy on the Week in Tech History. First of all, on October 20th 2004, Ubuntu is first released. Since then it’s gone through many revisions and has many different flavors, including Kubuntu, Xubuntu and Edubuntu.

It also marks the 8 year anniversary on Oct 23rd as the iPod v1 was first released. Of course since then the iPod has grown to many flavors in itself – the iPod touch and iPod nano. It is still one of the top MP3 players and one of the top ways to go deaf out there.

Check out the Quickcast for tons more like the first photocopier, Mac OS 9, Dell Poweredge AMD, EU and Microsoft and a lot more.
