Well, this week was the one for 2 main things – getting all the Podcast media Back up and running and starting the plans for the Consumer Electronics Show – CES. It will be my first trip to LV and I will get there – by hook or by crook. Hopefully not the latter.
I spent the week getting a good video camera that is portable and will work well. I did a couple reviews and will send them out next week. Once I have that done, we will begin reviewing more items. Let me know if you have a geek toy you want to review.
Something happened to me yesterday that not only took me by surprise, it threw my whole day off. My laptop stopped working. I closed the case to get ready to go to the coffee shop and the hard drive started clicking. When I turned the computer off then back on, the hard drive wouldn’t initialize.
I took the drive out of the laptop and ran diagnostics on it. No problems. I ran a full CHKDSK and fixed some bad sectors. I then proceeded in full backup and cleanup mode (removing files, defragmenting, etc). When I popped the drive back in there was no issues. I went on with my life.
Not all computers are lucky like that. While I am still not sure what happened, I am lucky it wasn’t broken. The best I can figure is the hard drive might have unseated from the laptop. I am being cautious with the machine, but in the meantime, I attribute this weeks (late) Bitstrips to the computer surgical skills.
Yesterday on the Podcast, I talked about an email I received from iTunes. The story is an old podcast I ran up until last year was still up on their site. I took everything down to make it go away and the listing stayed up on the site. I continued to get 404 errors (page missing) from my site error page, so I put the XML back up.
Finally on Monday I recieved the take down notice. It was really surprising since iTunes never really cleaned up the mess before. I had a few people ask me to post the letter, so here it is:
