January’s Roundtable was another great event. Todd Cochrane was your host for the TechPodcasts Roundtable.

Jeffrey Powers talked about ways to podcast via a mobile device. He introduced Mark Smith – CEO of iPadio.com -We provided TPN updates from CES by phone right from the show floor, in audio podcast form. Learn how the technology from the UK Company spearheaded coverage of the disaster from Haiti a few days after CES. Mark even used the iPadio service to also stream out his portion of the discussion to his followers.

Andy McCaskey introduced Rob May from BackUpify.com. If you have a Wireless Network available, wouldn’t it be cool to take a picture and have it instantly on your computer and up to Flickr at the same time? Wouldn’t it be neat if you had “Endless Memory”? Well that is what Eye Fi does.

Endless Memory is a new functionality that Eye-Fi enables. Once the Eye-Fi fills up, the card will instantly start deleting the oldest pictures that have been uploaded to the computer. That way, you will never have to delete pictures from your card again. And best part – those photos will be up for the world to see instantaneously.

Andy McCaskey talks with Stephan about the Eye-Fi card and how this can streamline your photo taking process. Prices start at $49, so it can be a very affordable solution. Stephan also talks about how a picture can be geotagged, so you know where it was taken.

Photo frames that pull directly from your computer or your iPhone. Photos that are on your Flickr or Picasa account. We saw a few photo frame companies all with interesting ideas. This one had most of the same that we said above. However, the one digital frame was able to be viewed in a Horizontal or vertical position.

Todd Cochrane talks with IPEVO about the newest technologies in digital photo frames. IPEVO also has a lot of IP based items including teleconferencing and cameras.

It’s been a year and a few months since the first iPhone was sold. Since the release of the 3G model, I’ve been seeing people with iPhones I would have never expected have one. The iPhone has brought up a new way to use the internet, the phone and a computer.

Apple is under a lot of scrutiny: AT&T being the sole carrier, the Apps store program take downs and the 3G services being poor. Yet the iPhone still is the 2nd best selling phone behind the Motorola RAZR. Apple itself is set to continue through these tough times.

There has been a lot of good and bad said about the iPhone. I have seen a lot of Forum posts, even more twitters and more. I decided to go ahead and ask a small group of people over at Help A Reporter what their thoughts were. I asked to send me 1-2 paragraphs as to why you like, don’t like or are neutral about the iPhone. Here are the responses:

I love my iPhone (even though the first one went “bad” on me within the first month)! I am a book author and speaker. I use my iPhone to do “cold calls” and the 60 second presentation. My phone is set to my home page and I have book marked my YOUTUBE page. When I run into a “prospect” I can quickly show them my “media presentation” which often results in a greater interest in my project and sometimes a new client. Without the iPhone I am not sure how I would be able to make the most of chance encounters and networking with influential people. Read the rest of this entry »

This last couple weeks has been really trying on the tech. It all started with the main PC – I knew it needed to be reloaded because of some ntdll.dll errors I’ve been getting. I decided to take it down last week and reload before everything went south and I couldn’t do anything.

I think it started a chain reaction….

The other day I was talking with EpicOnline on my live stream at http://live.geekazine.com and we started talking about Twitter and what would happen if the company folded tomorrow. Not that it would happen, but we’ve already seen some sites dissapear. Stage 6, Think Secret, Apple Blog. Even Yahoo has closed services and shuttled over to another.

The Blogger I was trying to remember was Marc Orchant who passed away in December 2007

Here is the video from this:

Web Apps.  Can we live without them anymore? What did we ever do without them? Webware put out it’s top 100 and we’re going to go through them and see what was good, what was bad, and what was… well, you know..

Webware is a site dedicated to watching what is popping up out on the internet. Any application that a web developer puts out will be checked out and reported on by this organization. It’s a good thing, too. There are so many out there, it’s tough to keep up.

On April 21st, Webware put out the list of the top 100 apps. There were ten categories, each with ten winners. There were 5000 nominees, and 300 apps were chosen as finalists. Over 1.9 million votes were cast to dwindle this list down to 100.

According to Webware, most of the winners were also winners last year. There were a couple apps that pushed their way onto the list. This might not be as easy next year as Web Apps are expected to be more widely used within 2008.

So here are the top picks:
