Almost Didn’t do the show tonight because of another issue that put me in a very bad place. 8-12 inches snow coming down here in the Midwest. Looking for a better Webcam Producer – Webcammax doesn’t get it. We are giving away another copy of Diskeeper 2010. We also go through a correction on information from the 5 Tech Things.

For the next week, you’ll hear a lot about “At CES” or “At MacWorld”. This is because Macworld and Consumer Electronics shows both competed during this week. Of course it wasn’t until 2009 where Macworld had to retool it’s date because Apple pulled completely out of the event.
For example, today 1985, Atari introduced the Atari XE and ST lines of computers. The Atari 520ST was dubbed the “Jackintosh” because the Atari was as powerful as a Mac at half the price.

We have talked with HP on the desktop and Laptop side, but not the Home Server side. Scott from HP shows Todd Cochrane about the new Media Smart Server EX 485 and EX 487.
There is a lot of new functionality to this machine. Scott shows off how this small box can become the best tool in your IT arsenal. Scott also tells us how it won best of show at MacWorld. Finally, find out how to use the Home Server for Flickr and for off-site backup.

**Remember, folks – Price of a HP Home Server is (1 drive – 750 GB) $599 and (2 drive – 1.5 TB) $749. The Mac Mini is also $599. Hmmm. What to get?**
I didn’t realize how tired I was…..
This weeks’ show had Brian Slawin on from Busyevent.com. The beginning brought some technical difficulties. When we got going, we talked about CES, MacWorld, Palm, Nationwide Cell ban and a lot more. Since Brian was in a remote location (as well as my jet lag), we kept the show short.
This week, we have on the Panel Brandon Mendelson and David Schenberg. We had a great “Before CES” show. Of course, the first hour we talked about the big shows of MacWorld and CES. We went on to discuss the Twitter phishing issues.
Hour 2, brought in a lot of talk about Netbooks, Bai du and the Chinese target at Internet Porn, FCC easing up on Filtering rules and a whole lot more. Brandon and David kept up some great conversation as I was starting to loose it. But I got my composure back and continued on.
Here is the Video:

MacWorld and CES have been in competition on this week for many years. With that, we have had a lot of great announcements come out of thise week. G4, Mac Mini, the Lisa computer and a lot more on the Apple side, where CES announced everything from new computers from Commodore (did you know there was a 264 and 364 computer?), Atari, IBM, Gateway and many other companies.
We also saw Jobs and Woz reunite again at the MacWorld Expo, Time Inc and Warner communications merge to Time-Warner, then AOL buy it to form AOL Time-Warner. There is a whole lot of History this week, so check out the Podcast and get your fix on information.

On Tuesday, Apple did what it said they were going to do for the last 2 years – pull out of MacWorld. Of course, Apple will attend this years’ event, but they really dropped the ball by stating Steve Jobs will not be doing the Keynote address. So now MacWorld is left with the senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, Phillip Schiller.
MacWorld Should Say to Apple “We’re Mad As Hell and we’re not going to take this anymore…”
