November is the month to ramp up the shows. I have been working on a new Podcast Madness contest – slated to start next week. If you are a podcaster, you should participate in this contest. I send you a code you can give to your audience. They put the code in and therefore a chance to win.
However, the National Podcast Post Month is simple: One podcast a day for 30 days. I normally do that with the Day in Tech History anyway, but I am going to ramp up some other stuff to try and surpass the 34 I would normally do. I suppose with the video, it’s more like 38 a month, so I figure 50-60 would be a good number to hit.
I do have a few video reviews from Blogworld New Media Expo that I have to put out. I will also try to get AppWild going this month. In all, this should be a great month for Podcasts!
But why put out the challenge if no one is listening. Therefore, I am encouraging all of you to LISTEN to a new podcast a day for 30 days. Find out all the great shows out there. Get involved and call in to those shows. Make people know you are listening.
To all participating, good luck with your challenge. I am rooting for ya. And adding the contest will help.

This will be the only time I talk about this:
Two weeks ago while attending Blogworld – New Media Expo 2009, I went to upload my video content to TVazine – hosted by Mevio. The uploader didn’t work. After trying to get a solution from the online forums, I was told that the person who could help me was not in the office and I wouldn’t have a solution until “the weekend, maybe later”.
Because of this issue, I lost out on 4 days of video content. I had put some of it up on geekazine.blip.tv. That uploader was working just fine.
I took a week off from producing video content. The decision was made earlier this week and I had begun moving content. I am not sure if I will put up past episodes on blip.tv just yet. Certain videos will be up there, like the “Window7 on Ubuntu 9.04″, since it’s still being circulated.
I had 2 sponsors with Mevio – Eastbay and Footlocker. Because I ended relations with Mevio, I have to end relations with these sponsors. It is sad, but necessary.
I wish Mevio the best and maybe we will work together in the future. For now, the new 5 Tech Things will be found over on the new home of tvazine.com – geekazine.blip.tv.
Thanks.
Jeffrey Powers
I like a good burger. When I get a burger for free, I am all over that. That is, unless I am then turned into a Zombie. But I don’t think that’s going to happen anytime soo…. uuuuhhhhh….. brainssssss…..
Anyway – I participated in many events at Blogworld. One that was really fun to do was called the Fatburger Challenge. I have never had a Fatburger, so I was really stoked on this.
1/2 lb of meat on a bun with lettuce, tomato and all the fixins. I felt like this is a challenge for me. Therefore I signed up. It’s like I was the 12th grader competing in the 2nd grade spelling bee – I had no doubt I could finish this meal and still have room for more.
Twelve of us sat at a table with all the social mediaites around. 10 men and 2 women, ready to sink our teeth into a juicy Fatburger. Some of the names included Ed Morita, John Ciampa from Bloggers School, and a few others in which I sadly did not get names on. Except for Maria.
There were four groups of 12 that took the challenge. Out of all the groups, we had 11 out of the 12 finish the burger. One of them, was Maria.
In this video, you will see the competition in a shorter fashion.
We also look in on another 12 challengers, including Rick Calvert of Blogworld – New Media Expo, Zane from Zaneology, the Snuggie Guy and Rob, one of the very own Blubrry employees.

The day was long, but well worth it. I got on a plane about 5:10 this morning. The flight would take me to Chicago, where I would have to wait until 8:11 to continue on.
However, problems kept us in Chicago a little longer. The plane had some technical glitch that could be fixed by unplugging (something), then taking one from another plane. They kept saying it would only take a couple minutes.
…Two hours later…
We finally got underway after 10 AM. With a 2 hour time shift, that brought the plane in at about 11:45 AM.
Got to the hotel, however, my credit card was not functioning. Apparently the card now wants me to call them and let them know I will be traveling. Not sure why I need a babysitter, but it was a minor setback.
Took a walk around the hotel. Extremely close to the Hilton and the Convention center. Also really close to a Walgreens, 7-11 and McDonalds. Pretty cool.
By 5 PM, met up with Todd and the RawVoice team at the Hilton. We sat by the poolside talking shop for a few minutes. We made plans and headed to dinner. A nice Japanese restaurant in the hotel with it’s own fireworks show every hour. Don’t worry – the fireworks was just a light show, but it was still impressive. Andy McCaskey joined us for some great food.
Then it was off to the pre-Blogworld Tweetup. I got a chance to really talk to the Raw Voice team. I also got to talk to a couple bloggers and Kosso – the creator of Phreadz. That brought it to the end of the night for me. Back to the Hotel where I would get some needed work done.
So I thought it was a short show, but my small rant about getting business cards might have changed that. You should hear what happened when I took my business over to Fedex office. I also got my Google Wave invite this week.

O.K. I was a little bored tonight, so I put together a song for this next week’s Blogworld – New Media Expo. It’s only a few days away and I am pumped to meet and learn (and relax a bit).
Are you going to the show? Let me know. I get there on Wednesday, so we could easily meet up for a “Pre Blogworld drink”. If someone has a guitar with them, I might just pull out the song again. This time with a little bit of practice. After all, I’m a drummer – not a Guitar playing Harmonica hasher….
But for now, here’s an unofficial Blogworld song.
If you want to sing along:
Doesn’t matter if I got no money. Doesn’t matter at all. I set me a path and now I’m heading down this road.
(cause I’m)Blogworld bound – That’s where I’m gonna be.
And baby if you get in my way, I’ll take away your admin access you see.I started bloggin on a Sunday, When I should have been in church
Preacher came a my way, said you’re heading down the roadI loaded up my player, enough podcasts to get through
The long arduous journey that takes me down to youThe floor of the convention, is a site to see
Industry professionals all starin at me(they were all)Blogworld bound
And baby if you get in my way, I’ll take away your admin access you see.And baby if you get in my way, I’ll take away your admin access you see.
And baby don’t get in my way, just take my hand and come down with me.

Were gonna be short on Ramblings since it’s another fun filled weekend.
Happy Independence Day
I am writing this on July 4th, so I shall say it. If you are not in the US, shoot off some fireworks anyway. It’s fun – unless you are in a country that doesn’t make it fun, then just read on.
We spent the majority of last night blowing stuff up. I can say that I enjoyed the night a lot. Being with friends and just relaxing to the warm sound of BANG! POP! BOOM!
Tonight, we play in the Dells, and although that’s fun too, it’s a different group.
Summer of Podcasts Contest is Underway
Wednesday marked the start of the Summer of Podcasts contest. PC Mac Smackdown, Simon Sez IT and Bageltech News are the first show to listen to. Collect the codeword, then go to Podcastmadness.com and enter it in.
New Studio
I worked in the initial videos from the new studio this week. Still have a little work to do. Nonetheless, the new studio will have a lot of great advantages to it. I am looking forward to this new opportunity.
Starting Back up the LIVE SHOW?
It’s been a few months since the last episode of the Geekazine LIVE show was aired. I think it’s time to bring it back.
Problems in Banking
If you use Paypal, it can be great for money transfers. However, it can also become a nightmare. Especially if something goes wrong. I am not going to talk too much more about it right now, simply because there are still things pending out there. Nonetheless, I did have some issues this week.
Blogworld – New Media Expo
Started getting prepared for this show in October. A lot to plan – flight, hotel, show, which shorts I am going to pack, etc. I will definitely be there. Even if I have to sleep in the alley by the convention center.
That’s all for now. It was a slow week. Next week will be chuck full of goodness, so stay tuned.
Summer of Geekazine contest comes to a close – Summer of Podcasts starts right up. New Video intros being made – Wanna help? Where is my Staple Gun – the new studio.
