1983 – To counter IBM, Tandy releases the Tandy TRS-80 2000 computer. It housed the 80186 processor and 128 KB of RAM. There were 2 – 720 KB floppy drives and the MS-DOS Operating System. The Tandy 2000 was considerably faster than the IBM PC models.

First off, happy 9-09-09. It is considered a “Devil” day. 999 is 666 upside down. And mud spelled backwards is dum (see Looney Tunes for the reference).
1945 – Grace Hopper is forever immortalized in the computer world as the first person to find a bug in a computer system. Litterally. The bug was a moth in between Relay #70 on Panel “F” of the Harvard Mark II Aiken Relay Calculator.
From there on end, “Bug” meant a problem in a computer system. I guess once the moth was removed, the word “Debug” was also added.BTW – The relay functioned properly after the moth was removed.
1947 – It sounds like that same relay finally failed 2 years later.

1995 – Microsoft releases Windows 95. It was a stellar event with it’s newest operating system. The first MS OS in 32 bit mode, it also debut TCP/IP, dial up networking and Long Filename support. The event brought along many different celebrations, including places like New York, which lit up the Empire State Building with the Windows colors.
IBM wasn’t sure if they were getting Windows 95 until 15 minutes before release. Companies like HP and Compaq (at that time they were separate) were able to let consumers know that they will get upgrades, but IBM could not make that promise.

When I go out to find a new PC – Many Years from now. Will it be equipped with a floppy drive, 2 gigs of RAM and 1 gig WiFi. Can it process a Terrabyte of data or will it be real slow. Will it be a PC, Intel or AMD, and will it be 64 bit.
Windows 7 is just around the corner. It will have something like 20 versions of it. Most important, it will have 32 bit versions as well as 64 bit versions.

If you visit my site regularly, you may know that I’m not a gamer. I don’t pretend to be one and I don’t play one on TV. All the game consoles I ever bought ended up at my brothers’ house. The most I ever got into a system was my first NES simply because I was addicted to Tetris.
