Wow. It was about a year ago I asked for people to send in thoughts as to what to expect in 2008. I also made some Technology predictions. But the real question was – How far off was I?
This is actually part 1 of a 2-part story. This first part reviews the predictions I made last year and how far off I was. Part 2 will have this years predictions, including predictions from CEO’s CTO’s TechPodcasters and even a Psychic.
So without any further ado, let’s pick apart my idiocy from last year:
OLPC will have some growing pains. The first part of OLPC will be the easiest. Maintaining the machines will be the trick. Microsoft coming onboard will muddy the water, but they might be able to do things like offer a better support network to third world countries.
It was a Commodore Vic 20. We were up North at our Grandma’s house for Christmas in 1981. Our cousins had a Vic20 and we played some cool games. When we got home at the end of the week, we opened our presents and low and behold, we had a Vic 20. I swear I got up early every day of Winter break to play on this new machine. I did have to fight for use with the rest of my family, but I think I got some good time on it.

Andy McCaskey from Slashdot Review talks with Geoff Barrall about the Drobo Storage Robot. The best part of this system is it’s hot swappable capability. When you store everything on 4 disks, if one of those disks fail, then the other 3 can rebuild the fourth.
This is a great item for those that need protected storage. Plus, Geoff makes a special announcement about the device.
OK, so I’m not the most organized person in the world. But one thing I did do is set a schedule of when to do things. I get reminders to pay bills, send greetings, get my car serviced and yes, I set a reminder to clean. And that is what happened today.
It was a good thing because I was sitting at the computer wondering what I should write about for this week’s Focus. I thought, "Yeah. Change of pace and I might get inspired about something in an article." Little did I know the answer was sitting in front of my face the whole time.
Cleaning.
