Ramblings: Hard Drive Woes – July 3rd, 2010 0

Ramblings: Hard Drive Woes – July 3rd, 2010

It’s been a while since I did a Ramblings. Here we go… Last night I went to record some of July’s Day in Tech History episodes. The audio was lagging – when I stopped processing, it would sit and think. I was able to save the recording, but it took a good 5 minutes to catch up. I finally got it to work better by putting the cache files on another drive. Uh oh… This is the first time in 15 years of PC computing that I have had a hard drive even start to falter in a production machine. Not a good feeling. At least I have good backups. I was able to pull the data off the drives. It just took a while to do. I still have to run the Seagate software, but the bigger question is if the drives are still under warranty. Seagate drives...

Steve Wozniak Interview Part 2 – Andy Talks Education – HP Technology Forum 3

Steve Wozniak Interview Part 2 – Andy Talks Education – HP Technology Forum

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: iTunes | RSSSo after the interview, Andy McCaskey swapped chairs and got to ask Steve Wozniak some questions. He was very interested on what Steve had to say on education and more. The funny thing was, we broke out to change up, Andy started talking to Steve, but there was no cue in to come back. So I just hit record and away they went. What was really interesting was Steve Wozniak’s passion for education. In this interview, the passion really comes out. Andy explores this angle and also Steve’s new role as Salesperson *NOTE* Steve Wozniak’s new role at Fusion IO – Salesperson. He will be taking a role and showing CTO’s the importance of Fusion IO. Steve Wozniak on Fusion IO part 1: HP Technology Forum 1

Steve Wozniak on Fusion IO part 1: HP Technology Forum

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: iTunes | RSSWhat an honor this was: Steve Wozniak was at the HP Tech Forum to sign books and talk about his role as lead scientist at Fusion IO. So when he agreed to come in to the booth and talk with myself and Andy McCaskey, we were floored. Therefore, we have a 2 part interview. The first part, Jeffrey Powers interviews Steve on the role of “Chief Scientist” at Fusion IO. Steve talks about how he is working for a company that is working on technologies that will take us to the next level. If you remember last year’s HP Technology Forum, we interviewed Fusion IO and the giant video screen – 1,000 videos running at the same time. They had the screen once again at Woz’s beach party – this time it runs 1,500 videos at a larger format. So enjoy part I of...
