Interactive guides are nice, but they can take up a screen. It would be great if you could have the guide show up on a remote, then when you select a show it will appear on the screen. That is what Sling is working on with the Sling Touch Remote.
The Sling Touch is a powerful remote with wireless capabilities. If you are in the basement and the game is starting, you just connect to the WiFi and set the SlingBox or another device. The guide will be there to help you through so you don’t need to run upstairs to make sure the record light is flashing.
Todd Cochrane talks with Anthony about this great new product from Sling. It’s also a universal remote and could be part of a bundled package, such as Dish network.

We continually talk about turning our TV’s into a computer, but would not want to have ad overlays pop up on that screen. That is where NDCTV comes in.
Todd Cochrane talks with Cherie about this innovative service. The idea is if you like what you see on the screen, you can get the information on a second wireless monitor. That way it is non intrusive so others don’t know you are buying that new dress…

If LEGO was this cool when I was a kid, I would have had more of them.
It’s amazing how we take something as simple as a plastic building brick and turn our imaginations to new horizons. When we computerized everything, it just seemed that LEGO would be left behind. That is, until someone said “Hey! Can we CGI a LEGO?”
That is where LEGO Universe comes in. Rob Blatt found Greg at the booth where we found out that LEGO has now moved into a new realm – the Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) game. In the initial story, the Maelstrom are attacking and you work with your online friends to save imagination.
The prices have not been set, but it should come out 2nd half of 2010 at a reasonable price.

The WavIT from ThinkOptics Turns Your iPod, iPhone Into a Fully Functional Remote Control – CES 2010
Editors Note: I would love to point to the website right now of ThinkOptics and the Wavit, but for the last few days it’s been reporting a trojan on the site. Therefore, no links will be given at this time.
When I scanned through North Hall, I found a lot of cool new products out there. This one was the most impressive. Not only could it turn your iPod or iPhone into a presentation remote, it could also turn it into a fully functional remote control.
The device is called WavIT from ThinkOptics. They have made presentation devices before, but this one you can plug your Apple device in and use it as a presentation device. Use the pointer, draw on the screen or flip through a Powerpoint.
But the more impressive item was it could turn into a fully functional universal remote control. You can download profiles for most remotes for your TV, Stereo, DVD, DVR or other device through their website. Don’t see the remote on there? That’s O.K. You can also make your own remote by taking a picture and setting hotspots.
Jeffrey Powers talks with Anders about this great product. It can control a Mac, PC, PS3, XBox or Linux box by plugging in the USB cord. No software is installed. There is even a Voice control for Window 7 – All for $80. Not a bad pricepoint.

In roaming the halls of the International CES, you can find some cool little items that are innovative and thought provoking. Take the Digisafe, for example – It won an innovation award for their product. A device that I even could see needing back in the day when I worked in a higher security job field.
The product in question is the Digisafe DiskCrypt Mobile. At first glance, it looks like a keyless entry keypad, and that would be correct – except you are getting into your data instead of your home. And you set the encryption level.
Jeffrey Powers talks with Jimmy about this great product. In order for you to access the drive, you have to insert a smartcard, then you have to enter a pin on the drive. The pin can be as easy or hard as you want for you can increase and decrease the encryption level. The keypad on the device protects you from keyloggers – for they cannot find out your pin through the computer.
The price point is pretty low, too. $199 for the enclosure and you can get completely protected. This is perfect for those who need DOD standard protection for their data. Now if they only made a thumb drive that would do the same thing…
