Interactive guides are nice, but they can take up a screen. It would be great if you could have the guide show up on a remote, then when you select a show it will appear on the screen. That is what Sling is working on with the Sling Touch Remote.
The Sling Touch is a powerful remote with wireless capabilities. If you are in the basement and the game is starting, you just connect to the WiFi and set the SlingBox or another device. The guide will be there to help you through so you don’t need to run upstairs to make sure the record light is flashing.
Todd Cochrane talks with Anthony about this great new product from Sling. It’s also a universal remote and could be part of a bundled package, such as Dish network.

Sometimes I feel like I’m the only one who actually turns off a monitor rather than let it go into standby mode. I know that even with the monitor off, power is continually going to that and other devices. While I might waste only a few kilowatts in a year, if you were to add that up with 6 Billion people, you would have a significant amount of energy wasted.
That is where HiSaver comes in. Their series of Power Strips actually turn off at the strip, so power doesn’t need to travel to the devices. A sensor will notice if you are not using the device and turn the peripherals off until you wake the strip up.
Todd Cochrane talks with Thomas from HiSaver. You can then save about 60-70% of electricity. $99 price point throughout major retail stores.
