For bloggers, video content might be constrained to items without copyright. They cannot record a video from TV and post it. Otherwise, they might find themselves in a legal issue. So what would happen if a company brought that content to the bloggers to use?

That is where Redlasso comes in. They collect video content from all sources and post it up for you to use.

I talked with Gil from Redlasso. He showed me how a content provider can use the content to promote their site. Once you sign up, you choose your region and pick from the videos provided. Then just blog about it.

The local news stations are the majority of clips in Redlasso right now. But you never know – you may be seeing a Geekazine video clip in there someday.

This will be the only time I talk about this:

Two weeks ago while attending Blogworld – New Media Expo 2009, I went to upload my video content to TVazine – hosted by Mevio. The uploader didn’t work. After trying to get a solution from the online forums, I was told that the person who could help me was not in the office and I wouldn’t have a solution until “the weekend, maybe later”.

Because of this issue, I lost out on 4 days of video content. I had put some of it up on geekazine.blip.tv. That uploader was working just fine.

I took a week off from producing video content. The decision was made earlier this week and I had begun moving content. I am not sure if I will put up past episodes on blip.tv just yet. Certain videos will be up there, like the “Window7 on Ubuntu 9.04″, since it’s still being circulated.

I had 2 sponsors with Mevio – Eastbay and Footlocker. Because I ended relations with Mevio, I have to end relations with these sponsors. It is sad, but necessary.

I wish Mevio the best and maybe we will work together in the future. For now, the new 5 Tech Things will be found over on the new home of tvazine.com – geekazine.blip.tv.

Thanks.

Geekazine has been working with different vendors since inception in 2007. With Podcasts being part of the Techpodcast network, the video had a uncertainty to it.

That all has changed as we are now working with Mevio to produce Geekazine video content within. In preparation, we have launched TVazine.com – the official website for all Geekazine video.

Within the next couple weeks we will be ramp up video content. We will be producing more video reviews, interviews, and backchannel content to show what it’s like at each event.

Mevio hosts great shows like geekbrief.tv, Cranky Geeks, Mevio Tech (with Sumi Das) and other hosts of Mevio Men, Mevio Women and Mevio Music.
