We have used TechSmith products for a while. The best part of these products is the ability to capture the screen. Camtasia is their most notable item – it will let you record a screen, add a webcam, insert notation and a whole lot more.
While at Blogworld, I got to talk to the guys at TechSmith. Troy came on camera and talked about the screen capture software. We discussed how you can use it in your daily video work.
Other items in the TechSmith family – Jing: an online version of Camtasia, Snagit: a screenshot software, Camtasia Relay: an appliance for Camtasia, Morae: a marketing tool for your site or product.
Further, it can all be hosted on Screencasts.com

I can see it now – Grampa sits jr on his knee and tells a story of how he was the third partner in the Apple franchise. He then proceeds to tell his sons’ son that he decided it was too risky and pulls out of the company 11 days after it was founded. At the time he was concerned over Jobs and Wozniaks’ work ethic and felt the company would not last – let alone make any money. Guess he should’ve listened to Forrest Gump.
By the way, that person’s name is Ronald Wayne.
In other Tech History, we see the Microsoft – Yahoo bid war heat up as not only Yahoo works deals with Google, but also tries to merge the internet operations with AOL. In the meantime, Microsoft talks with NewsCorp to do a “Joint acquisition”. That, the first SPAM, the DNA database and a whole lot more on todays Quickcast

Remember when you surfed the web and came across a Geocities page that basically was a mess and completely unreadable? There are a few MySpace pages out there with the same problem. Vincent Flanders has been talking about Web Pages that Suck for the last 13 years about those issues.
Over the years we have really evolved on website design. If you look at the Wayback Machine, you can see how sites like Yahoo, Microsoft and Google evolved. Heck, they have to: with newer web technologies, we have to be concerned about how the site looks, because that affects viewership. New sites show up daily that could easily start taking away traffic.
Nowadays with scripting, CSS, Ajax, Flash and a whole lot more, we run into a whole bunch of new issues. One browser would look awesome and the other would be discombobulated. Browsershots has the ability for you to look at your website through a whole list of browsers on multiple OS platforms. There are browsers out there that I didn’t even know of!
What I like about computers is I can either find a program to do what I want with the computer or make one to do it. So when it comes to those boxes that stream movies (like Apple TV or Sling Media), I would rather have a box that can do more. The PS3 is like that because we can set up a Windows Media Server to it to push music, movies and more.
Well, with BOXEE, I can do the same thing – Flickr, Music, Videos, Photos and a whole lot more. At CES Unveiled, Todd Cochrane interviewed BOXEE to talk about Blu-Ray support, BOXEE for Windows, Apple TV BOXEE, SuSE BOXEE, BOXEE wireless TV…

This week, we have on the Panel Brandon Mendelson and David Schenberg. We had a great “Before CES” show. Of course, the first hour we talked about the big shows of MacWorld and CES. We went on to discuss the Twitter phishing issues.
Hour 2, brought in a lot of talk about Netbooks, Bai du and the Chinese target at Internet Porn, FCC easing up on Filtering rules and a whole lot more. Brandon and David kept up some great conversation as I was starting to loose it. But I got my composure back and continued on.
Here is the Video:
