1976 – Steve Wozniak, an employee at Hewlett Packard at the time, builds his first Apple computer. It was for the Homebrew club and incorporates his designs. The computer club is held the next day and Steve Jobs meets up with Woz, where they will join forces and create the Apple 1 computer. Of course, that computer only sold 200, but it was the segway to the Apple II, one of the best selling computers of all time.

I can see it now – Grampa sits jr on his knee and tells a story of how he was the third partner in the Apple franchise. He then proceeds to tell his sons’ son that he decided it was too risky and pulls out of the company 11 days after it was founded. At the time he was concerned over Jobs and Wozniaks’ work ethic and felt the company would not last – let alone make any money. Guess he should’ve listened to Forrest Gump.
By the way, that person’s name is Ronald Wayne.

Today in the Gym I was watching a report that Apple iPhone was challenging Blackberry for market share in the corporate world. I agreed with the report – Apple has a better user interface than the Blackberry, Blackberry is too expensive in their messaging systems and an iPhone looks a lot better than a Blackberry device.
But then I got to thinking about it. Is this really news? I mean, yeah – we’ve got one company trying for a niche that another company has. However what company hasn’t tried to emulate or compete with another company’s corner-hold before?
